Ron Olson
Ron Olson currently a
faculty member of the Crossroads Prep Academy at Clover Park High School in
Lakewood, Washington has been teaching for 26 years and has extensive
experience with AP* US History, AP* Government, American Literature, and
Humanities courses. He recently became a National Board Certified Teacher in
2007 in Social Studies-History. Ron earned his B.S. degree in History and
English from New Mexico State University and earned his M.A. degree in
Secondary Education from Adams State College.
He has designed and updated AP* US History courses during his 13 years of
teaching AP* US History and his two years of teaching AP* Government. He has
worked with curriculum design in both Social Studies and English courses. He
has experience with schools with traditional and block schedules, integrated
courses, use of technology in the classroom, as well as experience working in a
variety of school settings. In addition, he serves as a Faculty Consultant for The College Board* presenting AP* US History and Pre-AP* workshops and has also served as a Faculty Consultant grader for AP* US History for nine years. In 2006 and 2007, Ron published his two-volume history test-prep series (US History from Discovery to 1865 and US History From Reconstruction to the Dawn of the 21st Century) through Homework Helpers at Career Press. In addition to his involvement as a NEA/WEA building representative for the local CP Education Association, he has also begun facilitator work for National Board Teacher Candidates with WEA and PLU. He currently lives in Bonney Lake, Washington with his two dogs, Sparky and Madison.
