Archives
The
University Archives was established in 1967 as an administrative
department of the president's office. Dr. Philip Hauge, retired
Dean and Registrar, served as the first archivist, followed
by Milton Nesvig, vice-president emeritus of University Relations.
The Archives became a department of the library in 1987 and
Kerstin Ringdahl was appointed to serve as the University Archivist.
The Archives serves as the final repository for the historical
records of Pacific Lutheran University. Its primary purpose
is to collect, describe, preserve, and give access to the
permanent records created by the university's departments
and offices. The collection provides information on the University'steaching,
research and special programs; faculty, administrators, and
alumni; campus buildings and development; and to student life.
