What are Parking Appeals?
Under PLU parking
regulations all students, faculty, staff and administrators have the
right to appeal the assessment of a parking fine to the Parking Ticket
Appeals Board. Appeals are generally granted only if it can be
established that the parking ticket was issued in error or if
extenuating circumstances surround the violation.

How Do I Appeal a Ticket?
- Submit
your appeal form to the Campus Safety Office (basement level
of Harstad Hall) within five business days of the ticket
issue date with the original ticket attached. You may also mail in your
appeal, though it must be post-marked no later than midnight of the 5th
business day from the date of issue in order to be considered. Keep in
mind that appeals turned in after
the fifth business day cannot be reviewed by the Board.
- Your appeal will be heard by the Appeal Board at the next meeting.
If you wish to be present during the reading of your appeal, contact the committee chair for meeting information.
- All decisions of the appeal authority are final. You will be notified by mail of the Board's decision.
- If the appeal is granted, you need to take no further action. If the
appeal is denied, you will have 5 business days in which to pay the
fine. After that, a $10.00 administrative fee is added to your fine and
the total amount due will be forwarded to your account.

Things to Remember
as you begin the
Appeal Process
If you would like to be present as your appeal is being considered, please make this request to the Parking Appeals Chair.
Incomplete
forms cannot be considered for appeal. Don't forget to explain your
basis for appealing the ticket on the back of your appeal form.
Payment of parking ticket
fines within 24 hours or the next business day result in the fine being
reduced by 50% with the exception of handicapped and carpool
violations, which cannot be reduced. Note that tickets submitted for appeal are not subject to the 50% reduction in cost.
Tickets resulting from failure to read
posted restrictions or to know the university regulations regarding
parking are not considered valid grounds for appeal.
Check out the most common causes for tickets at the campus safety website.
