Packard Leads Lutes to Fourth Place Finish
at Spring Classic

BANKS, Ore. –The Pacific Lutheran men’s golf team tallied
a two-day team score of 634, good for fourth place at the Northwest
Conference Spring Classic held Saturday and Sunday at Quail Valley
Golf Course. Senior Chris Packard was the top finisher for the Lutes,
placing sixth overall. Packard shot rounds 80 and 73 for a two-day
total of 153.
Pacific took the team title with a two-day team score of 592, 22
strokes better than second place Whitworth, who finished at 614.
Linfield, who trailed Pacific for second place after the first day,
slipped to third with a score of 618. Puget Sound was five strokes
back of PLU with 639. Willamette took sixth with 679, Whitman seventh
with 681, and rounding out the bottom two were George Fox with 705
and Lewis & Clark with 769.
Jason Casey also had a good individual showing for PLU. The junior
from University Place shot 79 and 75 for a two-day total of 154,
putting him in a tie for eight place. Kyle Spitzer placed 20th shooting
81 and 80 for a total of 161. Adam Story shot an even 83-83 to finish
at 166, good for 25th place. Brian Erickson shot 92 and 86 for a
178 to round out PLU’s team scoring.
The Lutes are back in action this coming Sunday in Yakima for a
four-way match against Puget Sound, Whitman and Whitworth.
