Grossklaus Ties for Eighth, PLU Team Finishes 6th

Final Results

SISTERS, Ore. - Angela Grossklaus carded a second-round 86, finishing with a two-day total of 176 and earning a tie for eighth place in the Northwest Conference Championship held Saturday and Sunday at Aspen Lakes Golf Club.

Placing all four scoring golfers in the top 10, the Pacific Boxers clinched their fourth Northwest Conference women's golf title in the past five years, carding a two-day total of 682 at the 2008 NWC Championship at Aspen Lakes GC in Sisters, Ore. Whitney Ueno of Willamette won medalist honors with a 161.

Pacific, which entered the second day with a seven-stroke lead over Whitworth, shot a 339 on the final day to collect the title. After winning the NWC Fall Classic outright and sharing the title at the NWC Spring Classic, the Boxers finished with 31.5 points in the championship standings. Whitworth finished second at both the tournament and in the standings. Puget Sound finished the tournament in third place, carding a 712, but Linfield took third in the final standings with 22.5 points, one-half point better than Puget Sound.

PLU followed up its opening 394 with a 376 on Sunday and finished with a total score of 770, good for sixth place. Rounding out the Lutes' individual scoring were Mallory Mueller 88-93 - 181, Kindra Stamps 101-97 - 198 and Lauren Emmerson 115-110 - 225.

Ueno, who also won the NWC Championship Tournament in 2006, followed up a 79 on day one with an 82 on day two, including a birdie on the first hole of the day. Brynn Hurdus of Linfield led all golfers with an 81 on day two to finish in second with a 166.
