Steve Dickerson, Head Coach
Steve Dickerson is in his second season as men's basketball head
coach after being named to the position on May 9, 2006.
Dickerson had served as an assistant coach and associate head coach
at PLU the previous three seasons.
Dickerson was a high school coach in the Columbus, Ohio, area for
33 years. He was a head basketball coach for 19 years, with more
than 200 wins including a "big school" state final appearance,
a regional title, two district championships, nine sectional titles,
four league championships, and runner-up state, regional and district
awards. Dickerson was chosen coach of the year four times. In 1994,
he was elected president of the largest basketball coaches association
in the state of Ohio, and in 2003 received the prestigious Sportsmanship
and Ethics Award from the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
He was also a high school assistant coach for 10 years. Those teams
produced a district championship, three sectional titles, one league
title and was a district runner-up once. He has also been a high
school baseball head coach and a defensive coordinator in football.
His baseball teams won a district championship, four league titles,
three sectional crowns and once finished as the district runner-up.
Dickerson graduated from Washington State University in 1969 with
a bachelor of arts degree in communications. He has done post-graduate
work at Ohio State University, Capital University, Xavier University,
Ashland University and Drake University. He and his wife, Christine,
live in Dupont.
