Lutes Get Lots of Shots But Not the Victory

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Pacific Lutheran out-shot Southwestern (Texas)
but couldn't finish enough of its chances in a 2-1 season-opening
men's soccer loss. The match was played this morning at Trinity
University.
Pacific Lutheran took 18 shots and forced Southwestern goalkeeper
Ryan Tasin to make six saves. On the other side, a pair of Lute
goalkeepers combined for four saves on 12 Southwestern shots.
Southwestern took the lead one minute before halftime when Kyle
Strine beat junior goalkeeper Andrew Croft. At the 77:41 mark of
the second half, Preston Hollis increased the Texas school's lead
to 2-0 against freshman Daniel Mangum, who played the second half
for PLU. Junior Derek Karamatic got the Lutes' lone goal at 85:57.
Pacific Lutheran returns to action tomorrow with a match against
host Trinity, which is ranked No. 12 in the Division III men's Top
25 preseason poll.
