Pacific Lutheran Drops One Spot in AVCA
National Poll
Pacific Lutheran fell one spot to No. 22 in this week's American
Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Top 25 Coaches
Poll.
The Lutes, 19-5 for the season, had been ranked No. 21 for two
consecutive weeks but saw their 13-match winning streak ended
last Friday night in a 3-2 loss at Whitman.
PLU is one of two Northwest Conference teams ranked in the Division
III Top 25, joining the No. 14-ranked Linfield Wildcats. Pacific
Lutheran, currently atop the conference standings with a 13-1
record, hosts Linfield at 7 p.m. Friday in a match that likely
will decide the conference championship. The Wildcats are second
in the conference standings with a 12-2 record. The teams have
split a pair of matches this season, Linfield beating PLU in a
non-conference match at a tournament hosted by Colorado College
in early September, and the Lutes beating Linfield in five games
in conference action on Oct. 6 in McMinnville, Ore.
