I come to
PLU after 30 years of professional management experience in Government and in Industry.
I have managed programs and large projects, including most recently, a $64M
environmental remediation effort in Commencement Bay. For the past 18 years, I
have been employed by the French corporation Total. Total is an energy
corporation, the largest firm in France and one of the largest in the
world.
I began
my career as an engineer. I hold a B.S. degree from the College of
Science
and Mathematics at the University of South Carolina as well as an M.S. degree in
Environmental Heath Engineering from East Tennessee State University (1978). I
worked in the field of environmental management for most of my
professional
career with assignments in the United States, Canada and in Europe.
About 20
years ago, I became interested in the professional aspects of management
and returned to graduate school in the evenings. I completed a second
master of science degree in Systems Management from the University of
Denver
(1990). I found the subject of management so interesting that I continued
on for a Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A) degree from Nova Southeastern
University (see www.nova.edu) (2000). I am pleased Alfy Marcus (Chair of
the Carlson School of Business at the University of Minnesota) and
Eli
Berniker (of PLU!) served on my committee. Eli was my chair and my research
was very well received by the Academy of Management and has been
presented
in several Journal papers. I am also a Project Management Institute
Project
Management Professional (PMP). My backround includes and blends the
professional
and academic aspects of management.
I have
taught previously at PLU; and look forward to being part of this community
for a long time to come.
My
hobbies include travel, flying general aviation aircraft, and boating. We have a
pet Siamese cat and love living in Washington State!
