Over the last year the School of Business welcomed three new members to
the PLU family!
Among them is Dean Jim Clapper who accepted the
position late last spring. In the year Clapper has been at PLU he
has worked with the guidance of the faculty to redesign the BBA program
and reached out into the local community to build and strengthen
relationships with local business leaders. To read more about Jim
Clapper click here
Deanna Steiner and Abby Wigstrom-Carlson also joined the School of
Business team this past year.
Deanna was hired as the
undergraduate coordinator in the spring of 2004 and in just one year of
working with business students was honored by the Women’s Center as one
of PLU's most inspirational women. Deanna advises undergraduate
students majoring or minoring in business, she works closely with the
transfer and international students transitioning to PLU and also is
the liason for the School of Business and the developing partnership
with the Franklin Pierce School District and Junior Achievement of
Washington.
Abby Wigstrom-Carlson is the newest member of the team coming on board
in February of 2005 as the director of graduate programs and external
relations. Abby is a recent alum of the PLU MBA program and
previously worked for the PLU Office of Admissions. She advises
incoming and current graduate students, supports the efforts of the
PLUS Business alumni association and develops communication and
marketing pieces for the School of Business.
AACSB Accreditation Reaffirmed in 2005
The School of Business was reaffirmed by the Association to Advance
Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in April of this year marking
the 29th year of AACSB accreditation for the School of Business.
Being an AACSB accredited institution means that the programs offered
at PLU have attained the highest level of achievement and met the
stringent standards set forth by the Association.
PLU is one of just one of eight schools in the state of Washington to
be fully accredited in business, and one of just three schools
accredited in accounting (one of just 14 programs in the region).
Only 168 accounting programs world-wide have this level of
accreditation. The School of Business will be reviewed annually
and will be up for re-accreditation in 2010.
