All are welcome!
Campus Ministry provides opportunities and a safe place for the PLU community to explore issues of faith and spirituality, to ask and wrestle with big questions of life, to integrate faith and learning, to create a community of support and service to others and to the earth. It is our belief that everyone has a place and a purpose in the PLU community. We welcome you to join in!
Our History
Pacific Lutheran University was founded in 1890 by a group of mostly Norwegian Lutherans from the Puget Sound area. In naming the university, these pioneers recognized the important role that a Lutheran educational institution on the western frontier of America could play in the emerging future of the region. Education—and educating for service—was a venerated part of the Scandinavian traditions from which these pioneers came.
PLU has been closely and productively affiliated with the Lutheran church throughout its history. It is now a university of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, owned by the more than six hundred congregations of Region 1 of the ELCA.
Important Upcoming Events
Light Up Red Square! This annual event and PLU tradition takes place on Wednesday, December 3 at 5:15 PM in Red Square. Join us as we sing Christmas Carols, drink hot apple cider, and see the lighting of the Christmas tree in Red Square. Donations for the stars adorning the tree will be used to purchase necessary clothing items for the Compass Center in Seattle and Miracle Ranch Children's Home in Tecate, Mexico. To honor someone with a star, please come to the Campus Ministry Office or call x7464.
