Brief Biography

Steve completed his doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Washington in 2002. Now in his fifth year at PLU, Dr. Woolworth teaches in the areas of educational and social policy studies, multicultural education, learning theory, school-community relations, and qualitative inquiry. He is also the director of PLU’s First Year Experience Program.  Dr. Woolworth has published articles in the areas of teacher community, education and public health history, and community studies.

In the summer of 2006 Dr. Woolworth was appointed to Regional Support Network Governance Board, which oversees the Pierce County mental health system. Dr. Woolworth is also the Chair of the Tacoma-Pierce County Coalition for Homeless Youth and Vice-Chair of the Greater Pierce County Community Network where he is part of an interdisciplinary team undertaking a study of youth aging out of the foster care system.
