FINDING ARTICLES IN PERIODICALS/JOURNALS

Periodical indexes provide the most efficient subject access to journals, magazines, and newspapers.  Some of these indexes are print and some electronic.  Access the electronic resources from the PLU library web page (http://www.plu.edu/~libr/articles/home.html).  Some electronic resources require a username and password.  To locate articles on topics related to Education, use:

Child Development Abstracts & Bibliography (1939, Index Area, ref HQ750.A1C47) Abstracts from professional periodicals and book reviews related to the growth and development of children.

Dissertation Abstracts International (1861+, via PLU library home page)  Compilation of abstracts of doctoral dissertations submitted by 450 cooperating universities in the U.S. and Canada.

EBSCOhost Academic Search Elite(via PLU library home page)  A multi-disciplinary index covering over 3000 journals and newspapers.  About 1/3 of  the articles are available full-text on the database.

Educational Administration Abstracts(1969+, Index Area, ref Z5814.M26E3)  A quarterly listing of abstracts for articles relevant to educational administration.  Abstracts are arranged under broad subject headings.  No annual or cumulative indexes.

E*Subscribe (via PLU Library Website) Offers ERIC documents in full text (.pdf file format) from 1996 to the present. Use the Express Search option to search by known ED (ERIC document) number. When searching for information on education and related topics in journals and documents, search ERIC (see listing above) and follow the links to EDRS (E*Subscribe) for the full text.  Off-campus access requires PLU ePass username and password

ProQuest (via PLU library home page) Covers more than 2,000 scholarly journals as well as popular magazines & newspapers in all subject & interdisciplinary areas, including education.
