James 2
James Moore, The "Alarm Guy"


Alarm


James carries 13 years of experience in his trade, including formal training at Clover Park Technical College in 1992 for fire and burglar alarms.  On campus, he typically handles problems related to fire safety procedures and alarm systems including CCTV vault and safe combination maintenance, emergency lights, fire sprinkler protection systems, and exit lights and doors.

  



Carpentry


Gary is our recent addition to the maintenance
crew. He brings with him 35 years of carpentry experience. Gary can repair just about anything made of wood; install white boards, bulletin boards, shelving, signs, and doors; and adjust and repair doors that get a lot of use on campus. His skills also include wall repair and laminate work. Since part of his trade experience involved work as a locksmith, he will sometimes assist in cutting campus keys. Of course, he is willing to lend a hand in any trade whenever needed.

Greg 2
Greg Bock, Electrician


Electrical


Greg is in charge of everything electrical on campus including outdoor lighting. He also performs electrical upgrades in both residential halls and academic buildings.


  


Engineering


Our four engineers are Tom, Jan, Don, and Kevin. They take care of the boilers, heat pumps, and air conditioning units on campus. Engineers are always on call for emergencies after hours and during the weekends. They plumbing to electrical work.

Bill
Bill, One of Our Two Mr. Fix-its


General Maintenance


Bill McCallum and Kerry Christensen are our two general maintenance technicians. They can repair most facility problems on campus ranging from gutter and roof repair to light bulbs and drain leaks.



  


Locksmith


Rick is in charge of recoring on campus. He also cuts all of the keys for campus. Rick repairs doors and their hardware including door closures, crash bars, peepholes, hinges, and mechanical and electrical opening problems. He also repairs combination locks on desk drawers and file cabinets.

Rob Vehicle 2
Rob Benton, Mechanical Engineer

Mechanic


Rob works out of the automotive shop and uses online resources and modern diagnostic equipment, welders, lifts, and a wide variety of tools to service vehicles and maintain equipment. Rob is responsible for the maintenance of PLU's vehicles, including vans, grounds and maintenance equipment, carts, tractors, mowers, and trucks. He also works in conjunction with the Facilities Management office on licensing PLU's vehicles and maintaining emissions compliance.


  


Painter


Brian does all painting around campus including parking lot striping and repair and maintenance of dry walls and plaster. He also refinishes furniture and cabinets and aids in the choice of colors used around campus on buildings and in rooms.  During the summer he does painting projects with students.

Ross 3
Ross Winters, "Plunger"


Plumber


Ross maintains the water and drainage systems on campus.  He fixes bathroom utilities, pool equipment, water heaters and boilers, science laboratory sinks, and fountains, including the one in front of the library.  When the maintenance manager, Bruce, is absent Ross assumes managerial position. He is capable of doing more than the basic job.

  


Preventative Maintenance


Luigi Hanchett and Ed Benton are our two preventative maintenance technicians. They recharge and maintain all fire extinguishers, oil and grease mechanical and electrical motors, and changes air filters. Since their responsibilities are similar to our maintenance engineer crew, they can also be found working with the engineers.
