Student Health Insurance Medical health insurance is required for all domestic full-time undergraduate and all full-time and part-time international students. Each year students will be enrolled automatically in the PLU Student Health Insurance Plan. A student who is covered by a comparable health insurance plan can waive out of the PLU Student Health Insurance Plan by providing evidence of comparable primary insurance through an online waive out form during registration and no later than 10th day of class. Waive-out online starting April 1, 2008 but no later than September 19, 2008. No waivers will be accepted after September 19, 2008, midnight. Cost and BillingDomestic Students: The
2008-2009 fee for the PLU Domestic Student Health Insurance Plan is $400 per domestic student. This plan provides up to $10,000 per injury/accident*. Plan DetailsNeed More Coverage? Buy-Up Options are Available: Students can purchase higher insurance coverage - up to $50,000 per injury/accident*. Nursing Students - this buy-up option meets the insurance requirements of PLU School of Nursing programs. You must be enrolled in the basic $400 PLU Student Health Insurance Plan in order to purchase the Buy-up Option. Click here for an application and instructions for enrollment. International Students: The 2008-2009 fee for the PLU International Student Health Insurance Plan is $790. This insurance plan meets best practices recommended by the US State Department. Plan Details Billing: The insurance plan fee will be billed as part of the fall billing process, or spring billing for those who start spring-term. After waiving-out, a future bill or statement will show the insurance cost reversed. Financial aid resources can help cover the cost of the insurance plan. Health Insurance ID Cards: PLU domestic student health insurance identification cards are available online.
