Dining services is working to research local venders to supply the campus with food.
PLU's campus Master Plan has a complete rennovation and remodeling of the University Center. With this will come drastic changes to the layout of the UC Commons. This will allow the kitchen to be more effective in minimizing waste, and offering healthier, more environmentally friendly food options. Look to the upcoming years for these changes.
Services currently employs two student research interns, J.P. Kemmick and Rachel Esbjornson, to research waste reduction and other key aspects of operations. Both a waste compost system, and a waste reduction / monitorin system are being developed and will be implemented iteratively throughout the next few years.
