Rank and Salary
Assistant Professor, full-time, tenure track position; salary commensurate with qualifications and experience + benefits package.
Responsibilities
- Teach horn performance, literature and pedagogy at the undergraduate level.
- Teach in secondary area(s) in the classroom; options include pan-university courses (writing, inquiry seminar, introduction to music, study abroad), and/or music core courses (theory, history, aural skills, world music).
- Perform in the resident faculty brass and woodwind quintets.
- Recruit horn students and assist with recruitment of other brass students; develop strong relationships with school music programs, local youth ensembles and area private instructors.
- Other duties/teaching as assigned based on the appointee’s strengths and department’s needs.
Qualifications
- Master's required; doctorate degree required for tenure; cognate(s) in classroom teaching area(s) preferred.
- Demonstrated success as a teacher of horn in studio and laboratory settings at the college level.
- Demonstrated success as a horn performer in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings.
- Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to teach core music and/or pan-university courses.
- Enthusiasm for and demonstrated ability in recruitment of students.
