FT for 10 months: M-F, 8am–5pm; PT for 1 mo during the summer: 24 hrs/week
General Description
Primary responsibility is for nursing care. In addition, support for
the front desk as needed and medical record review are major parts of
the job. Reports to Director.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
Take vital signs and record for each student.
Briefly chart chief complaint in patient’s own words.
Prepare patient for examination. Prepare exam room for patient exam.
Assist in examinations: help practitioner if needed during procedures.
Collect laboratory specimens: throat culture, hematocrit, urine specimen, or blood draw as needed.
Process laboratory specimens and do appropriate test/send to the laboratory as needed.
Administer injections per practitioner order or standing orders.
Monitor immunization supplies and order in a timely manner.
Autoclave to maintain sterility of all instruments.
Allergy hyposensitization. Verify that proper orders are on record.
Administrative Duties:
Order all medical supplies. This includes laboratory and clinical supplies and vaccines.
Complete monthly Health Department vaccine accountability records.
Process new student records. Enter student’s immunization information into Banner computer program.
Supervise student workers.
Coordinate OSHA program for the Health Service.
Coordinate recall file for practitioners.
Fit students for crutches and generate the bill for rental charges.
Coordinate immunization program for Embassy CES program and International students. Track need for second MMR and follow up on CXR after +PPD.
Input data into statistics program to accurately track Health Service activities.
Participate in continuing education courses to insure current clinical /administrative skills and knowledge.
Coordinate self-care center.
Check and document refrigerator temperatures twice daily.
Front Desk Coverage:
Cover the front desk in the absence of the administrative assistant.
Process and distribute the mail if the administrative assistant is busy.
Pull and file charts as needed.
Telephone triage.
Schedule appointments for students either over the phone or in person.
Assist at the front desk. Check patients in and prepare the chart including pertinent forms.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Able to establish a good patient rapport and maintain confidentiality.
Able to triage phone calls.
Computer/word processing and Excel skills.
Must work well as a team member.
May require some bending and lifting.
Required Qualifications
2 years of experience working as a LPN.
Computer and front office experience.
Must have successfully completed a Licensed Practical Nurse program.
Must have current Washington State LPN license.
Must have current CPR certification and current AIDS Prevention Training Certificate.
Finalist candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background checks.
