General Description
The Lacrosse Coach will be responsible for all aspects of the program including coaching, and assisting team leaders with recruiting, scheduling, travel, fundraising, purchasing, administrative duties and skill development. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach and coach student athletes in a competitive academic and athletic environment. Reports to the Director of Club Sports.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Attend and plan daily practice.
- Travel with the team during weekend tournaments.
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and coach women’s Lacrosse within the academic and athletic philosophies of PLU.
- Coordinate appropriate arrangements for home contests, including set-up, officials, game management, equipment, and arrangements for visiting teams.
- Coordinate appropriate arrangements for away events including travel rosters, travel itineraries, transportation, meals, lodging, equipment/travel expense reports.
- Instruct with sound principles and expert skills in Lacrosse.
- Motivate team for maximum performance by utilizing motivational philosophies that meet the needs of the students and are consistent with the PLU Athletics Program philosophy.
- Respond to all appropriate correspondence, email, phone calls, and administrative deadlines.
- Attend all staff/coaches meetings, events and functions assigned by the Director of Club Sports.
- Determine team goals and objectives prior to start of season.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Committed, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic.
- Ability to teach Lacrosse to individuals and the team as a whole.
- Ability to effectively motivate team members.
- Knowledge of Athletics/University rules and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, flexibility and ability to communicate ideas effectively.
- Skill to deal with student needs in a range of academic and non-academic issues.
- Skill in the use of personal computer systems; knowledge of related word processing and database management software.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including telephone, calculator, copier and fax.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Past Lacrosse/coaching experience.
- Finalist candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background checks.
