FT through May 31, 2009 (1yr temporary position); Monday – Friday; 8am – 5pm. Occasional evenings.
General Description
Provide administrative support to the dean/associate dean, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and manage budgets. Reports to the Dean of the School of Business.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the dean/associate dean on external/internal activities.
- Support Executive Advisory Board.
- Manage account budgets and prepare year end reports.
- Support Faculty Search Committees.
- Coordinate meeting, travel and/or conference arrangements, plan internal and external events.
- Engage in problem solving and assistance to administration, faculty, staff, and students.
- Promote and manage the Career Mentorship Program.
- Supervise & train budget assistant and student workers with projects, etc.
- Maintain confidential employee records.
- Collaborate with alumni for engagements in club/school activities.
- Recruit for, assist and promote special opportunities (speakers, recruiting fairs, professional week events) to student organizations.
- Create and maintain various databases.
- Undertake other duties and projects as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires independent and extensive cross-group coordination at all levels, both inside the university and with external community.
- A pleasant and collaborative professionalism including the ability to accommodate diverse working styles and perspectives.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, excellent time management skills, and the ability to set priorities.
- Financial management skills to ensure compliance with university/school budget regulations and processes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
Required Qualifications
- Three years job-related experience. Related education may substitute for some experience.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Finalist candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- An interest in events management.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience working in higher education.
