General Description

Organize and execute listener based fund-raising including but not limited to on-air fund drives and direct mail campaigns; assist Major Giving Coordinator to identify Leadership Circle prospects for additional cultivation; track relationships with contributors and supervise staff processing of member contributions. Supervise the KPLU Listener Service employees in response to all incoming listener communications. Reports to the Assistant General Manager, Director of Support Services.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

Plan and implement strategy for listener fund-raising efforts.
Plan strategy for and supervise listener service response.
Create and manage annual budget covering fund-raising and listener service efforts.
Manage Listener Relations team. (Currently 5 employees plus student support and outside contractors).
Support the Major Gifts Coordinator.
Provide station liaison and supervise station volunteers in relation to listener fund-raising activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Comprehensive understanding of fund-raising strategy and practices.
Leadership and management of personnel.
Knowledge and clear understanding of planning practices.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Proficient with PC operations and standard software packages such as MS Word, Excel, etc.
Willing and able to work non-standard hours during peak periods.
Understanding of budget management.
Knowledge of and a commitment to public broadcasting.

Required Qualifications

1 year experience fund-raising in non-profits. Education may substitute for experience.
Demonstrated increasing leadership responsibilities in current position.
High School diploma/GED.
Finalist candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful history of fund-raising leadership.
Successful history of budget management.
Successful history of supervisory experience.
Bachelor’s degree.
