Pacific Lutheran University strives to maintain a stable, competent
work force which is well-informed in all employment matters and to
provide employees with full opportunities for growth, expression of
ideas, work satisfaction and recognition for their contributions. The
Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual will assist you in
understanding the institution and your employment rights and
responsibilities.
By accepting employment at PLU, you have chosen to work at a New
American College that has provided quality educational opportunities to
students for well over 100 years. PLU is committed to intellectual
exploration, critical thinking, and creative expression in an
environment that values diversity and respect for the rights of others.
Contributions of all employees are highly prized and contribute
significantly to the quality of students' educational and personal
experiences.
The policies and procedures contained in this manual are in no way
intended to be nor should they be interpreted as a contract between
Pacific Lutheran University and any of its employees. It is a living
document, and will change as PLU changes. From time to time, PLU must
modify its policies. Information is current as of the time of
publication and may be subject to change or repeal at any time, with or
without notice, at the discretion of PLU. Employment of staff and
administrators is at the will of the university. Staff employees
may be terminated at any time for any reason with or without notice.
Administrator contracts may not be renewed for any reason.
Since faculty policies and procedures are described in the Faculty
Handbook, the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual will apply
primarily to administration and staff.
Should you wish further explanation of the policies in this manual,
your supervisor or Human Resource Services can provide assistance.
