David GrimbergDavid Grimberg

Systems Analyst

When David Grimberg finds a good thing, he sticks with it.

The stability David finds in his life these days may be compensation for frequent childhood moves around the country. With a father in the Coast Guard, the Grimbergs lived for varying periods in Alaska, Michigan, California, and several points on the East Coast. Or his steadfastness might be the product of the comfort and confidence that comes from a close-knit family.

In any case, David has been at PLU and working with computer technology for well over a decade now. He came as a student in 1990, then soon after landed a job as a computer lab consultant. Later came lab manager, PC tech, and student computer systems operator. When a full-time job in the then-Computer Center opened up around the time David graduated, he jumped at the opportunity to begin working with administrative systems. There were many considerations for getting this job, but he does think (tongue in cheek) the decisive factor was that he answered affirmatively when asked during his interview if he was a Star Trek fan!

Also helping to set down deep and stabilizing roots has been finding a wife within the PLU community. Amica and David met while residents in Pflueger as second- and first-year students, respectively. They associated with one another off and on in subsequent years, but they didn't begin dating until after graduation when they turned up at the same Bible study. Amica, a graduate of the School of Education, is a tutor and substitute teacher. They live nearby, and Amica's hours are flexible, so they frequently meet at home for lunch.

A kid who used to take toys apart just to see how they worked and practically memorized user manuals probably has dedication and focus. Applying such dedication to relationships and institutional affiliations is what loyalty is about. David is a dedicated and loyal member of the PLU community -- he has found a good thing and he is sticking to it!
