Who
can have a LuteBuck$ Account?
LuteBuck$
are available to the entire Pacific Lutheran University Community
- staff, students and faculty, retirees and even employee spouse
and dependents.
What
exactly is a LuteBuck$ Account?
Your LuteCard can work like an on-campus debit
card so you don't have to carry cash. It works like a prepaid
debit card. The only difference is you cannot withdraw cash from
your PLU Point$ account. With a LuteBuck$ Account
your LuteCard can be used to make purchases where ever LuteCards
are accepted. Your account will automatically be debited and your
balance will be displayed on the cashier's screens. You also can
check your balance (points and meals) at any reader. You'll be
sent a monthly statement, but, you can request one any time at
the LuteCard & Information Center.
What
if I lose my LuteCard?
You'll
have to buy a new card, but your account balances will be safe
as soon as your report your card lost.. Your money is on your
account and kept track of in the computer, not on your card like
a phone or copy card. And, if your card becomes demagnatized,
same thing! Your account is kept in the computer, not on your
card.
Immediately
report your card lost to the LuteCard & Information Center during
office hours (253)535-7457, at any staffed reader site, or call
Campus Safety & Information at (253)535-7441. They're available
24-7. As soon as a card is reported lost, it's no longer usable.
You are liable until you report it lost (unlike a credit card
there's not a liability limit) but once you do, you won't
lose a penny.
How
do I set up a LuteBuck$ account?
Your card is already designed to be to work
like a debit card. If you have a PLU ID, you already have a LuteBuck$
account set up. Save yourself a trip across campus and also the
bank machine fees. Use your credit card or check card and buy
them over the phone (x7457) or even over the web at the PLU
Bookstore's LuteWorld. Give us a call and be on your way to
the Espresso Cart. LuteBuck$ can be purchased with check, cash
or money order or bank card. Deposits may be made any time during
the LuteCard & Information Center's hours.
Sounds
good, but does it cost?
Just
a minute of your time. There's NO membership fee,
NO finance charges, NO bills, NO
check charge, NO ATM charge. You pay only the cost
of your LuteBuck$. They're dollar for dollar. Best yet, there's
no minimum balance or deposit - begin with 56¢ or $560.00. When
you want to add to your balance, there is NO minimum,
add as much - or as little - as you like. Just one word of caution,
once money is placed on your LuteBuck$ account, it's staying there.
You won't lose it, (it rolls over semester to semester) but you
can't withdraw it until you officially leave the university.

you've been so generous. We can even charge it to a departmental
