Internship Sites

Real People. Real Therapy.


Each site has the same objective of giving interns practical experience in the mental health field, however each site has unique qualities, and opportunities for growth as a therapist. Placement at one of these agencies follows your practica experience at the on-campus clinic.

Auburn Youth Resources
is located in Auburn, WA, approximately 25 minutes from the PLU campus. This placement is for therapists-in-training especially interested in working with children. All clients are 18 years or younger, with parent involvement left to the therapist's discretion. Resources include two case managers, a psychiatrist, and many on-staff family therapists. The clinic has a managed care department to help interns with paperwork.

Good Samaritan Mental Health is located in Puyallup, WA, approximately 10 minutes from the PLU campus. All therapists-in-training work with a wide variety of clients including older adults, children and families, crisis situations, and the chronically mentally ill.  This internship site offers a unique experience for therapists to interact with the medical community.  

Greater Lakes Mental Healthcare is located in Lakewood, WA, approximately 15 minutes from the PLU campus. This agency is a large agency experience with a special emphasis on using systematic ideas in that context. The PLU interns work in Child and Family Services where the clients are children and adolescents accompanied by other family members. Therapists-in-training attend weekly required meetings that provide feedback on difficult cases and training on a variety of mental health topics.

High Point Medical Clinic is located in Seattle, WA, approximately 50 minutes from the PLU campus. Interns join a health care team comprised of physicians, nurses, and behavioral healthcare specialists. Clients are primary care patients who are in need of mental health services in addition to their health care.
