Orientation GuidesHey Lutes! We are so excited to meet you all on August 30th! Since we're sure you're very curious, we've provided you with a little information about us below. So peruse to your heart's content and then let us know if there's anything else we can help you with before we see you for Orientation. If you have any questions during Orientation about Lute life, the schedule, moving in, classes, buying books, really anything-- come to us. The Orientation Guide (OG) Team Eric Buley: Eric is a sophomore at PLU. You could never go wrong giving him a nice, comfortable sweatshirt, as he is seen constantly wearing his around campus. As for his tool belt, although it is only for occasions when he is seen at the construction site, Eric keeps his tool belt up to date and full of the latest and greatest new tools found in the hardware store.  Kaley Burwell:Kaley is a junior at PLU. She likes to wear a t-shirt and jeans when she has the chance to just hang out in her most comfortable clothes. Her favorite construction accessory is a Jack Hammer, so if you're working with her on the construction site, you may want to make sure there's a spare Jack Hammer lying around, although it is doubtful that Kaley would ever leave home without hers!  Andrew Carpenter: Andrew is a junior at PLU. He loves a good hoodie. When heading to work in the construction zone, if you were to pass by Andrew, you would probably see him in one of his favorite hoodies. Along with his hoodie, though, Andrew is sure to be seen with a hammer as well, for he never goes to the construction site without it! Matt Cavanaugh:  Emily Dooley:Emily is a senior at PLU. Her favorite article of clothing to wear is tube tops, what could be more comfortable during the summer than tube tops!! On the construction site, she may not always be able to wear her tube top, but she will always be found with her hard hat!  Alex Eli: Alex is a junior at PLU. He loves to wear pajamas, except when he's on the construction site, in which case he never leaves home without his anchor bolt. Actually, we wouldn't put it past Alex to attempt to achieve maximum utility by leaving home (for the construction site, of course) BOTH in his pajamas with his anchor bolts!  Drew Eli:Drew is also a junior at PLU. Yes, in agreement with common assumptions, he IS twins with Alex, but instead of pajamas, Drew loves to wear a good pair of socks. (When it's cold outside, of course!) As Drew heads off to the construction site, he always makes sure to have his work gloves handy.  Lauren Emmerson:Lauren is a senior at PLU. This crazy OG is a huge fan of the boardshorts... we're sure that she's probably been wearing them quite a bit in the heat this summer. (While she's showing off all her crazy jumps and other random talents, of course!) When she's not out playing in the sun, Lauren is the official destroyer in the construction zone. Her favorite construction tool, of course, is none other than the sledgehammer. It's a good thing she gets along with just about everyone- we would hate to be on her bad side while she's breaking stuff down in the construction zone.  Megan Galbraith:Megan is a sophomore at PLU. You will see Megan walking around in her favorite pig shaped slippers as often as possible. (Maybe you can convince her to bring them to a JAM group!) When Megan prepares for the construction site, she never fails to remember her steel toed boots, she loves that "they are all scuffed and covered with paint. They are proof of all the hard work I've done and that makes me feel accomplished."  Briana Gedrich:Briana is a sophomore at PLU. She loves a good pair of jeans, which we're not really sure if you'll see her wearing to your JAM groups... after all, it's going to be nice and sunny then. (We hope!) She also never leaves home without her hard hat.... as long as she is leaving home to head off to the construction site! Lindsay Gelinas:  Trinity Gibbons:Trinity is a junior at PLU. Being the amazing basketball player that she is, she absolutely LOVES her Air Jordan basketball shoes. Speaking of shoes, when you meet her at your JAM group meeting, ask her about her many shoes.. it's quite an interesting story!! When she has to get down to work on at the construction zone, the Jordans are sure to stay at home so they aren't destroyed... but don't you worry, Trinity doesn't go empty handed! She has her handy drill at her side at all times to help her get through the day without her awesome shoes.  Maxi Gould:Maxi is a sophomore at PLU. Lucky for her, it's summer time, so she can wear her favorite tank tops every day! When you see her around campus this fall, you will most likely see her in one of her bright, colorful tank tops. When Maxi goes to work ... on big important construction business, of course, she is never without her screwdriver, for it is her favorite construction accessory!  Shannon Halloway: Shannon is a sophomore at PLU. Her favorite clothes to wear also go along with the summer time spirit-- we're talking about skirts, of course! Shannon probably doesn't wear her skirts when she goes to the construction site, but she most definitely will be seen with none other than her favorite monkey wrench!  Kelsie Hendrickson: Kelsie is a sophomore at PLU. Along with the summertime spirit, she loves wearing her swimsuit. When she has to leave her fun in the sun to go to the construction site, she is sure to have her drill bits.  Amanda Hill:Amanda is a junior at PLU. Her favorite article of clothing is her swimsuit, which is probably one of the greatest things to wear during the summer, especially with the incredible heat we've been having so far. When she has to head off to the construction zone, she never leaves home without her trusty level -- a very important tool in the work zone, she's the one who makes sure all the work is ... well.... level.  Nicole Hughes:Nicole is a sophomore at PLU. She loves to walk around... as long as she gets to walk around in her comfy Chuck Taylors. Nicole is typically seen wearing her Chuck Taylors around campus, we're sure you'll get to see them when you meet her at your JAM group meeting. We doubt she wears her Chucks to the construction zone though, because with all the hard work she does with her favorite skill saw, Nicole's shoes are sure to get dirty. Nicole sure knows her stuff when it comes to working with the skill saw though, which is incredibly handy around the work site.  Christina Husa:Christina is a sophomore at PLU. Christina loves a good pair of pajama pants. They're her favorite thing to wear around the house. Speaking of awesome things to have around, we think it's important for you to know that Christina's favorite construction accessory is a screwdriver. This spunky OG is the one with the power tools constantly screwing in and/or taking screws out of the walls in every construction zone.  Emily Isensee:Emily is a sophomore at PLU. Emily, being the awesome camp counselor that she is, is very attached to her awesome Teva flip flops. We hope those sturdy shoes keep her safe around the campground... we would hate to see one of our Orientation Guides get hurt! When she gets back from camp and resumes her work at the construction zone, she will surely have her tape measure at her side! Who knows, maybe she brought it to camp with her-- we know it's hard to part with such an awesome tool as the tape measure.  Jo-Petter Iversen:Jo-Petter is a senior at PLU. This big, lovable Norwegian will be hanging out with his friends in Norway this summer in his favorite comfortable shorts. When he is called to his duties in construction, though, he quickly switches to his overalls, his favorite accessory in the line of construction!  Andrea Jensen:Andrea is a sophomore at PLU. Lucky for her, its been a little drizzly up here in western Washington.. because she's gotten a chance to wear her all time favorite article of clothing: her leopard print rain boots. Hopefully she's had enough fun in the rain with her boots though, because we're ready for the sun to come back out! When she's out on the construction site, her favorite accessory is none other than those incredibly flattering neon reflective vests. Maybe one day we can convince Andrea to wear both those awesome accessories together in one outfit... maybe even for a JAM group meeting... maybe!  Rachel Johnson: Rachel is a sophomore at PLU. She will probably come to the JAM group one day in her favorite plaid shorts...definitely comment on them, I'm sure you'll get a few extra brownie points in her book! :-) In the construction zone, you can't miss Rachel-- she's the one sure to be wearing those awesome big plastic eye goggles!!!  Meredith Kanago:Meredith is a junior at PLU. Especially in the summertime, Meredith is seen constantly in her comfy flip flops. She is an important person to have around the construction zone if you care about things being level, because she never leaves home without hers (level, that is)!  Annie Kilgore:Annie is a sophomore at PLU. Annie loves to wear any of her many comfy shorts. Her favorite construction tool is a hammer, but it's important for you to understand exactly why she loves the hammer so much: "mainly because not only can you hammer things with it, you can use it as a pick ax, you can hang it on a belt and look cool and I'm pretty sure it's the name of a wrestling move!" Spencer Lang:  Christine Mahar:Christine is a sophomore at PLU. Her favorite thing to wear is a t-shirt. It really doesn't matter what kind, but if she had to narrow it down, she would say her favorites include anything "plain, graphic, from sports teams or clubs." Apparently, she's actually got quite the collection going... so when you meet Christine, you should definitely comment on her t-shirt -- you never know, there may be an interesting story as to how she got it! As for the JAM group meetings, though, she'll be wearing our awesome t-shirt that we designed. (Compliments will be gladly accepted and I'm sure will be passed on to us!!) She also loves her tape measure (I'm sure she has one of those really bright, neon ones) and never leaves for work in the construction zone without it.  Sean Maloy:Sean is a sophomore at PLU. Sean loves to walk around in a nice, warm... beanie. We're suspecting he's not as big of a fan of them during the summer... at least on the warm days! We'll let you in on a little secret though, Sean really loves beanies because he wears them when he snowboards... and he wasn't allowed to tell us that his favorite article of clothing is a snowboard! Anyway, when he's not dreaming of snowboarding... I mean... working hard at CATS(as in the picture to the left).. he's dream.. I mean, working hard at the construction zone with his big, powerful bulldozer. Sean and his bulldozer move all the stuff around the construction zone so everyone else doesn't have to. We think Sean loves working with his bulldozer so much because those big piles of dirt he moves around resemble some pretty cool-looking stuff you could snowboard down.  Emily Marks:Emily is a sophomore at PLU. Emily's favorite article of clothing to wear both around the house AND out in public is none other than her very own socks. Given all the warm weather, we're pretty sure she's not actually wearing them every day. She is sure to wear them, though, when she goes to the construction zone. She is always sure to have her handy dandy utility belt.  Lauren McNally:Lauren is a senior at PLU. She is all about rocking the headbands and Roxy flip flops. We're pretty sure she's got a large variety to accommodate all her outfits. As for her time spent at the construction zone... we're pretty sure she still wears her headbands there, but maybe not the flip flops. Regardless, Lauren is sure to have her tape measure close at hand for any emergencies that may come up. She also enjoys playing with the level.. or as she puts it "the little thingy with the bubble in it," but we doubt she actually would use it to complete any tasks.  Breona Mendoza:Breona is a sophomore at PLU. Her favorite article of clothing to wear around the house is her big, comfy bathrobe. When it comes to the construction zone, fresh asphalt or concrete is by far her favorite part of the construction area. She says her passion for fresh asphalt and concrete is simply because "you can leave an impression in it that will last a lifetime."  Alli Meyer:Alli is a sophomore at PLU. Enjoys long walks.... in a good pair of sweat pants! Don't let her casual, comfortable dress fool you, though, when she's in the construction zone, she's in the zone, and she's never to be parted with her very favorite... tool belt, full of every tool and gadget that she could possibly need to get the job done.  Katie Monroe:Katie is a junior at PLU. She's an easy-going girl who loves hanging out in a good pair of sweat pants. We don't expect to see her around campus in sweats very often this summer though, given all the nice, warm weather we've been having. But don't be surprised if she happens to show up to a JAM group meeting or two in sweats. We're pretty sure she doesn't wear sweat pants to the construction zone, but we're quite positive she will have her tool belt around her waist. She's also probably one of those cool people with bright, fun colored tools in her belt--really though, who wouldn't have a cool looking tool belt, it's effective and fashionable!  Haley Nelson:Haley is a senior at PLU. She just spent last semester in France and being still a little under the French influence, her favorite article of clothing is a scarf. (Any one of the many in the collection we assume she built while she was there!) Never able to overlook the underdogs, she claims her favorite construction accessory to be none other than our very favorite... port-a-potty... because really, when it comes down to it, we all know we couldn't live without it!  James Odan:James is a junior at PLU. He's a big fan of the surf shorts, which shouldn't surprise you... since he's from Hawaii and all. James' favorite construction accessory- the one thing he always makes sure to pack with him on his flights both to and from Hawaii- is none other than a jack hammer.  Allison Parks:Allison is a junior at PLU. She loves any kind of colorful, quirky socks, so when you see her in your JAM group, make sure to check out her socks! Allison, being the destroyer that she is, never leaves home without a sledge hammer!! (We're actually just joking about Allison being a destroyer, but we're totally serious about the sledge hammer being her favorite construction accessory!)  Jamie Roberts:Jamie is a senior at PLU. She can most commonly be seen walking around in her very comfy and very fashionable slippers. We wouldn't be surprised if you see her with her slippers on during your JAM group meetings... they're just that great! Since she can't really wear her slippers to the construction zone, Jamie makes up for it in style and grace, with none other than her very fashionable Carhartts.  Jeff Rockenbrant:Jeff is a junior at PLU. Yep, those are definitely Puffins in his picture with him-- which are, by far, his favorite animals. Whether he's going to the zoo to check out the Puffins, heading off to class, work, or a construction site, Jeff loves walking around in a good pair of ... socks. Specifically in the construction zone, add a nice pair of safety goggles to the picture and you've got Jeff with all his favorite things!  Tyler Rumple: Tyler is a junior at PLU. He loves wearing a good pair of flip flops around, especially during the summertime. Even though he can't usually wear his flip flops around the construction zone, he can manage, as long as he is constantly within reach of his Seahawks hard hat! (You should ask him to bring it to his JAM group... we've never heard of a SEAHAWKS hard hat!)  Beckie Stewart: Beckie is a sophomore at PLU. She loves relaxing in a nice big, comfortable... well... anything with a hood... so I guess we could just say a hoodie for the sake of this web page! At the construction zone, Beckie can be found checking out the big (or small), bright (or dull), long (or short).... construction signs. She could probably bring her own to the construction zone if need be... if there ever was a sign shortage!  Amber Schlenker: Emilie Sunde:Emilie is a sophomore at PLU. She loves throwing on one of her many awesome t-shirts-- they are her favorite article of clothing. Her favorite construction accessory is none other than the very handy nail gun. We know we've used the nail gun many a time, you never know when something needs to be nailed into place!! It's very handy and requires much less physical labor than a hammer and nail, though, it's work is not always as solid and sturdy.  Han Yao: Han is a senior at PLU. Han can be seen hanging out in last year's OG shirts, because he just can't get enough of them. They were pretty great, if I do say so myself! Understanding the importance of time, Han never leaves home without his watch, especially when he heads off to the construction zone. |
