2005-2006 Academic Year:


  • MSN2006grads 2005-2006 Graduates: The School of Nursing recognized 111 graduating students at pinning and hooding ceremonies in December '05 and May '06. The 82 BSN graduates and 29 MSN graduates made this one of the largest graduating groups ever at the School! Among the spring graduates was the first ever cohort of Entry-Level MSN students. These students entered  nursing classes in the Summer of 2003, and have gained RN licensure, experience, and finally a graduate degree in nursing. Congratulations go out to all our graduates!

  • Tammie Generette (BSN class of May 2006), received the Ruth F. Carlson Award in Clinical Nursing at the May 2006 pinning ceremony. The Carlson Award honors nursing students who 'represent the best in academics, clinical practice, and service, as selected by their faculty and Dean.'

  • Jennifer Barnett, RN, ARNP (MSN class of May 2005) - Scholarly Inquiry paper, "An Emerging Role for Nurse Practitioners -- Perioperative Assessment," published in AORN Journal, November 2005.

  • Linda DeCarlo, RN, ARNP (MSN class of May 2005) - Scholarly inquiry paper, "Advanced Practice Nurse Entrepreneurs in a Multidisciplinary Surgical-Assisting Partnership," was published in the AORN Journal, September 2005.

  • Mariano Lara (BSN class of December 2005) received the PLU Faculty Merit Award for the 2005-2006 academic year.

  • Janelle Morissette, RN, CNS (MSN class of May 2004) has been 'in the news' multiple times in 2004-2005. She is currently the manager of the Northwest Center for Weight Management at St. Francis Hospital-FHS, which was named a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by ASBS this year. Janelle was also recently selected to the serve on the national RN Certification Development Committee. Janelle has published two articles since graduation. Her N596: Scholarly Inquiry paper, "Clinical Nurse Specialist as the Leader of a Comprehensive Bariatric Program," was accepted for publication in the Nursing Leadership Forum journal in Winter 2004. An additional article by Janelle, "Treating Obesity in the Hospital," was published in Hospitals & Health Networks online magazine in October 2004.

  • Becca Scobee (BSN class of May 2006) was selected as an OHSU Hartford Scholar. She will receive a substantial scholarship during her senior year, an expenses paid trip to the annual meeting of the Gerontological Society of America, and begin the doctoral program at OHSU following graduation from PLU in May 2006.

  • Clover Winch (BSN class of May 2008) received the Phi Theta Kappa Award from PLU for the 2005-2006 academic year.
