
2007-2008 First-Year & Transfer Checklist
Welcome to Pacific Lutheran University!
You are strongly encouraged to utilize this resource page
containing details associated with your registration at PLU. Each
section reflects important information and requirements you may
have already completed or need to complete. Unless otherwise noted,
the Student Services Center, located in Hauge Administration
Building Rm. 102, will be glad to assist you with any questions
or concerns. If you do not complete the requirements
regarding medical history records, immunizations, official transcripts,
Payment Contracts, or financial aid, the University will place a
HOLD(s) on your student account. The HOLD(s)
will restrict you from certain University privileges, including
the right to be registered or to continue enrollment.
ePass
Have you created your ePass (your PLU
email)? Go to the ePass
website and follow the instructions.
· Did you know the primary
means of communication for faculty and staff is utilizing
students’ PLU email?
· Did you know you could forward
your PLU email to your own favorite account?
LuteCard
Have you obtained your LuteCard (ID Card)
at the Concierge Desk? It is located in
the Library until August 15.
· After August 15th, the Concierge
Desk will move back to its original location in the University Center
(main floor).
PLU
ID Number & PIN (Personal Identification Number)
Do you know your PLU ID Number and your
PIN (Personal Identification Number)?
· Did you know it is your responsibility
to give your PLU ID# and PIN to your parent/spouse/or a significant
other if you want them to have access to your financial aid and
student account information? Without both identification numbers,
information cannot be released.
Vehicle
Information
Did you know that if you park in the university parking lots, your
vehicle must be registered with Campus Safety?
· You can register online at
the Campus Safety website in
early August!
· There are designated parking
lots. You will be ticketed if you do not comply with the Vehicle
Parking Regulations.
Health
Forms
Have you turned in your Medical History Record
and are you up to date with immunizations? Questions? Contact
the Student Health Center at 253.535.7337.
· You should carry your Health
Insurance Card with you while attending PLU.
· Does the University have an
emergency phone number and contact
person listed for you?
A.W.G.Dewar
Tuition Refund Plan
Have you considered the optional A.W.G. Dewar Tuition
Refund plan?
· In the event of an emergency
(such as personal injury or illness), and if a full withdrawal from
PLU is medically necessary, this plan covers tuition, room and meals.
· To apply, go to www.collegerefund.com.
At the menu, select Pacific Lutheran University.
Housing
Contracts and Meal Plans
First year students, who will be living on-campus, are required
to sign a Housing Contract and Meal Plan
online here.
When you electronically sign your housing contract, you are automatically
signed up for the meal plan The Lute Choice.
It offers approximately 3 meals a day. If that’s okay with
you - you're done and you don't have to do anything else. However,
there are other options! If you'd like to choose one of them, you'll
also need to complete a 2007-2008 Optional Meal Plan
Contract online.
Read these contracts carefully before you submit them! There are
deadlines for changing or canceling meal plans.
Transcripts
· Have you sent PLU your final
Official High School Transcript with
final grades and your graduation date?
· Have you sent PLU all official
transcripts from other colleges/universities you have
attended?
Registration
and Deadlines
Do you know that once you have initially registered for classes,
and if you decide to rearrange your schedule, you should check with
your Summer Registration Counselor, Academic Advisor
or the Academic Advising Office for assistance?
· Do you know the deadlines for
adding/dropping classes or declaring the pass/fail option? Visit

and go to General Class Schedule Info.
· Do you know the deadlines for
a full withdrawal from the university? Visit www.plu.edu/academics
and go to PLU Catalog

Verification
of Enrollment
Did you know that the Student Services Center verifies
enrollment and sends requests for medical insurance,
auto insurance and military dependence information to your providers?

Assistance
Did you know that the Student Services Center has a counselor available
for veteran’s assistance?

2007-2008
Student Planner
Did you know the Daily Planner and Student Handbook
have daily and monthly calendars pre-printed with important PLU
information?
· Residential students
will receive a planner during move-in. New off-campus students will
receive a planner during orientation or you can get a copy in the
Student Services Center,
Student Involvement and Leadership
or ASPLU on or after September
4th.
Payment
Contracts
Did you sign and return your 2007-2008 Payment Contract?
If you need to submit a copy, go to the SSVC
website and click on Downloadable Documents.
· If you selected the Monthly
Payment Plan, did you contact Tuition Management Services
to set up payments?
· If you selected Payment
in Full, did you know your payment is due on August
25, 2007?
· If you selected Financial
Aid and Other Resources Cover Costs Plan,
did you know you are responsible for your financial aid and other
resources being applied to your student account by September 30,
2007 for Fall?
· If you will have a credit
balance for fall and would like a refund, please go
to the section below titled Refunds.
· Did you submit an Address
Confirmation Form? If not, go to the Student
Services Center and click on Downloadable Documents.
Financial
Aid
Did you accept or decline your Offer of Financial Aid
on Banner Web? If not, return
the paper copy to the Student Services Center or the
Financial Aid Office.
· Revised Offers of Financial
Aid are sent by email, directing you to view changes on Banner Web.
· If you received a letter
indicating you were selected for verification, have you submitted
the required documents? Go to the Finacial
Aid website and click on Downloadable Documents.
· If you accepted a Subsidized/Unsubsidized
Stafford Student Loan, did you select a Lender and
submit your Lender’s Master Promissory Note online?
· Have you gone online
at mapping-your-future.org
to complete the required Entrance Interview
for your subsidized/unsubsidized student loan(s)?
· If you want information
about Alternative Loans, you can go to
www.pluprivate.collegelenderlist.com.
· If you accepted a Parent
Loan (PLUS), did your parents go online and submit
the application for the loan?
· If you were awarded any
outside scholarships, did you notify
the Financial Aid Office? Your outside scholarships will be divided
between semesters and is the student’s responsibility to see
that outside scholarships arrive on time.
· If your outside scholarships
require a Verification of Enrollment,
please contact Barb Zettel.
· If you accepted a Perkins
or a Nursing Loan, did you know you would receive
an email from the Perkins/Nursing Loan Office in August explaining
the requirements and how to sign electronically for your loan?
· If you were awarded a
Washington State Need Grant or an Educational
Opportunity Grant, did you sign the Student Directive?

Refunds
Refund Request Forms can be downloaded
at the Student Services
website (click on Downloadable Documents)
or come into the Student Services Center. Processing for student
account refunds begins after the 10th day of classes and continues
throughout the semester.
· Due to the heavy volume
of requests at the beginning of each semester, you should keep yourself
financially prepared until your refund is processed.
· If a student has a Parent
Loan (PLUS) on their financial aid award, the parent
borrowing the loan must also sign the form.
Student Employment/Career Development
Are you interested in a campus job? You can view job postings at
the Student Employment
website!
· There are forms you will
need to complete prior to your employment. The Federal
I-9 Form with original identification (see form for
details) must be presented to the employer and a Federal W-4 Form
to indicate the amount of estimated taxes to be withheld from each
paycheck.
· Did you know there are
off-campus positions available in the community under the State
Work Study Program?

Plan
for New Student Orientation! Residence Halls open
at 9 am on Thursday, August 30 and Orientation events begin at 3:30
pm. Parents and families are invited for special programs on Thursday
