Family Weekend is fun for all!
Dear Lute Families~
Consider this an invitation to come to the campus of Pacific Lutheran University November 10-12— for Family Weekend 2006.
Hopefully by now you have received the Special Edition of our Family
E-News regarding Family Weekend and/or a printed brochure in the mail.
We also hope that you have begun to make plans to come to campus for
all or a portion of that weekend.
The Alumni and Parent Relations team and a campus committee that
includes a number of students—have put together a wonderful schedule
that includes something for everyone. Please feel free to include
grandparents; favorite aunts, uncles and cousins; friends and siblings
(especially those seeking a college home of their own!).
The schedule provides the chance to spend time in your student’s “home
away from home” – the Residence Halls or the CAVE (commuter students);
the opportunity to learn about the focus on Global Education and
Sustainability at PLU; attend a wonderful tailgate brunch featuring
PLU’s retired but legendary football coach Frosty Westering; take in a
Lute football game or tour the Tacoma Art Museum; and eat pancakes and
then worship with the University Congregation on Sunday morning.
On Saturday evening you are invited to visualize yourself transported
to New York City--to attend the Night of Musical Theatre’s production
“What I Did For Love” followed by a late night dessert reception. Night
of Musical Theatre is a student-run organization, and this year the
program is produced as a Senior Capstone Project by Kristin Burch (’07
– BFA Theatre: Acting/Directing). This production gains popularity each
year and you are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to
experience it as a part of the Family Weekend festivities. Even if you
don’t consider yourself to be a musical theater fan—we assure, even
you, that you’ll find tunes with which to “sing along”.
We are so excited to have you join us on campus in November. In order
that we do a good job in preparing for your visit, please go to
(website) to register your family for Family Weekend 2006!
Go Lutes!

Director, Alumni and Parent Relations
P.S. This is my 35th year at PLU—6 of these years were spent as an
undergraduate and then graduate student. Some of my fondest memories of
PLU were the times my family came to visit me in my PLU home during
special weekends such as Family Weekend! I hope you’ll consider making
some of those memories with your PLU student(s).
