Health Center summer checklist

HealthCenter

The PLU Health Center was busy in May seeing many graduating seniors! It is both sad and exciting to say “farewell” to some of our favorite visitors. Unfortunately, graduation means the end of access to our services. We do maintain a list of medical referrals in this area, if your student needs to find care. Our website continues to be a source of health information and additionally, we offer suggestions for health insurance after graduation. We keep all student records for 10 years. Frequently, students need immunization information for new jobs after they leave and we can be a source for that.

This summer we prepare for new students and the transition families make as they come to PLU. All students are required to submit their Health History forms which are part of the admission paperwork. Completion of this form assures us that students are in compliance with the university’s immunization requirements. There is information on required and recommended vaccinations on this form. Later in June all parents of continuing students will receive further information from the Health Center.

We are excited to offer health insurance to all PLU students this fall. I know you have received information on our policy. For students who are already well insured, remember to waive out of the mandatory billing for the PLU insurance. For students who are uninsured, this is a great benefit provided by PLU as eighteen to thirty year olds are the least insured group in the US.

In closing, we are as close as your computer; www.plu.edu/health, or your phone, 253 535 7337, so please let us know if we can be helpful to you!

Alumni Insurance Program

The Pacific Lutheran University Office of Alumni & Parent Relations sponsors an Alumni Insurance Program as a service to alumni. The program offers a variety of attractively priced insurance products, most of which are available to alumni, students, faculty, and staff, as well as their spouses, domestic partners, parents, children, and siblings.

Medical Insurance is available for those temporarily without coverage, such as the unemployed and recent graduates, and for special situations, including travelers and students.

Click here for more information or call the program administrator at 800-635-7801.
