Welcome New PLU Parents!Welcome to the first edition of the New Parent eNews for Summer 2007! As the parent of an incoming PLU student, we expect that you will have many questions about the university and how to assist your student with a good collegiate start. This enewsletter is designed to provide you with important information to help support your student and will be published electronically every two weeks. New students receive their First Year eNews weekly and much of the information in your newsletter will be similar. We look forward to meeting you on campus in person during Orientation (August 30-31) but until then, please utilize this information to assist your student and encourage your student to contact us with any questions they may have! This online version is brimming with the same content and direct links to offices across campus. Getting the information you need has never been easier. The two books are: Letting Go: A Parents’ Guide to Understanding the College Years by Karen Levin Coburn and Madge Lawrence Treeger; or You’re on Your Own (but I’m here if you need me) by Marjorie Savage. Both offer a framework for understanding the transition into college and how parents can be most helpful as your student takes his/her next step of independence. Summer Fun on CampusSummer
is quite an exciting time on campus! Dozens of events from fruit festivals
to Jazz Under the Stars highlight the summer schedule of the Office
of Alumni and Parent Relations! Parent eNews ArchiveWhether you need a reminder or want to share, you can always get past articles in the Parent eNews Archive. As we get closer to the academic year the number of helpful tidbits and specific information about your student's experience at PLU plus answers to your most pressing questions will always be a click away! |
