Faculty Affairs Committee Meeting Minutes

November 3, 2005

Present: D. Harney, R. Kaufman, R. McKenney, A. Leon-Guerrero, J. Hasty, A. Batten

Business:

1. The committee met with Chuck Bergman, Chair of the Faculty, to discuss plans to work on a comprehensive compensation plan for faculty and staff. The committee decided to begin gathering information regarding this plan which will include a survey of the faculty. Immediate tasks include a) speaking with Dennis Martin who gathered information in the past (Rona); b) obtaining Dana Garrigan’s previous report (Rose); c) gathering information about release time and history of salaries (Anna). Anna will also begin drafting the survey. The survey will help the committee develop a set of principals, to be voted upon by the faculty, which would form a philosophical basis for this comprehensive plan.

2. Rose shared further information from the budget committee meeting.

3. Minutes of October 27, 2005, were unanimously approved.

Meeting adjourned at 6 pm.
