Faculty Affairs Committee Meeting Minutes

Business:

1. Jennifer reported on the Benefits committee meetings. As Jennifer will not be able to attend the January meeting, Alicia will go in her place. Jennifer will send Alicia the details.

2. The committee debriefed concerning the visit with financial consultant, Paul Aslanian.

3. The committee discussed the EPC proposal that was passed at the December 9th Faculty Meeting: “That the Faculty Affairs Committee present to the May 2006 meeting of the Faculty Assembly such recommendations as it deems appropriate concerning workload, compensation, and workload equity regarding the following: (i) cases where teaching-load credit is currently not given for capstones; (ii) whether most faculty should be expected, as part of their general workload, to supervise independent studies from time to time; (iii) when, if ever, it is appropriate for faculty to be compensated for the supervision of independent studies, internships, and practica.”

4. The committee continued to work on revising the survey on compensation.
