Minutes 10.18.04

The minutes of 10.4 and 10.11 were approved.

Diane Harney reported on the Benefits Committee meeting held on 10.12 and the progress of the Faculty Development Task Force.

Because of schedule conflicts, Dane Wu will not be able to represent FAC at the Budget Advisory committee. Marilyn Newcomer-Culp agreed to attend these meetings through the end of the fall term.

Jim Pence will attend our meeting on 10.25.

The rest of the meeting was spent discussing the Comprehensive Salary Plan study memo. Chuck Bergman has asked President Anderson to convene an ad hoc committee and has acted for our support. A draft of our memo expressing support and identifying our role in issues of faculty salary was distributed and discussed. A final copy will be available for our review on 10.25

Kate Grieshaber reported on her discussion with Ed Inch (Dean of SOTA) regarding salary priorities. We decided to use her questions to frame our discussions with the other Deans. Greg Johnson will mail out the questions we wish to ask deans regarding this year’s salary distribution.
