Minutes 11.22.04

The minutes of 11.22.04 were edited and approved. There were no committee reports.

There was a general discussion about the contradictions committee members see within institutional decision making. Among the issues raised were: the impact of block pricing, the fesibility of hiring 22 new faculty for 2005-2006; and the consistent lack of funds for faculty salary increases.

The rest of the meeting was spent reviewing and editing our respons to Jim Pence’s memo of November 1. The general consensus was the memo lacked any clear proposal and failed to present a compelling rationale for change. Tamara will revise the memo and allow committee members to review prior to its being sent to the Provost.
