Welcome to the Department of Psychology

We are committed to providing our students with a meaningful and rigorous undergraduate education that balances science with application. The department provides a core of courses covering research methodology, statistics, and historical and systemic perspectives. In addition, professors offer seminar level courses in their own specialties, ranging from physiological to social issues relevant in psychology.

Our focus is on the development of skills in critical thinking, theory building, research methods, statistical analysis and using psychology in human contexts. Throughout the program direct experience and interactive teaching methods are emphasized. Our goal is to prepare you to succeed in your endeavors, throughout your life.

Our main reception area and mailboxes are located on the second floor of Xavier, although we also have faculty offices in Ramstad and research space in both Ramstad and Harstad. If you have any questions, please e-mail individual faculty using the web links at the left on this page or contact the chair of our department, Prof. Wendelyn Shore, (253) 535-8348, shorewj@plu.edu.
