Who We Are |

What We DoThe center connects students, staff, faculty and community
partners at many levels. As part of this interaction, the Center encourages all
participants to intentionally reflect about the broader implications of their
service experiences. This type of thoughtful civic engagement is
conducted in formats ranging from rigorous academic scholarship through
service-learning courses to reflective group discussions around work study
tutoring, volunteer projects and group events. The Center views reflective service as a rich source of learning, community connection and spiritual growth which helps to create lifelong learners with a sense of vocation and civic responsibility. The Center celebrates the full partnership of the surrounding community, recognizing that in order for service and civic engagement to be responsive to community needs, participants must fully embrace their role as members of an on-going dialogue about impact and implications, as well as respect the complexity of the social fabric, the give and take of human endeavor.
