In the Beginning...

Riley with her family at her '06' GRCC Graduation   170x127   6.3KSenator Relfe was born in Washington on September 17, 1983. In 1989 she moved to Colorado with her family. Throughout her childhood and adolescence she participated in many athletics: soccer, swimming, figure skating, diving, cross country, and track & field and was an active member of the Civil Air Patrol; participating in the Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue for several years.  In 1998 she was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder & Bipolar Disorder and remains a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, prevention and research.

After suffering several setbacks in High School, she received her GED in 2001. In 2002 she graduated from Pickens Technical School (Aurora, CO), where she studied beauty technology.  In 2003 she moved to Washington and transfered to Green River Community College (Auburn, WA).While at Green River, she was a member of TRIO and President of Phi Theta Kappa (the honor society of two-year colleges). While President, she was influential in increasing her chapters' (Alpha Chi Beta) membership by over 80%. In 2006 she graduated with her Associate of Arts Degree from GRCC. 

Family History

Riley is the oldest of five children. Both her Mother and sister Joani are studying Nursing.  Her sister Nicki is a Sophomore at Dartmouth College. Her mother and younger siblings currently live in Maui, HI.
