Residential Life

Getting Involved

Something For Everyone

Jen Goodman, one of the nine resident assistants in Ordal Hall, presides over a birthday party for several of her fellow students. There’s always something going on – be it a scheduled potluck, or an impromptu game of Twister.

Resident Assistants (RA)

Hong Resident Assistants are the primary peer resource for ALL on-campus students.  If you need to have a light bulb replaced in your room or just need someone to talk to, your RA can help.  RAs are also great educators and community builders.  They are required to plan events that supplement your classroom learning or just allow you to have FUN with your community members.

If you are interested in being a Resident Assistant for 2008-09, applications are now available!

Residence Hall Association (RHA)

Providing support for the Residence Hall Councils, planning events for the entire campus, and advocating for residential students take up much of the time for this organization.  Keep an eye out for some of their big events:  SoundOff, Songfest, PLU Idol, and Miss Lute.  RHA is a member of the Pacific Affiliate of College and University Residence Hall (PACURH) and attends their leadership conference each spring.  For more information or to contact RHA, check out their website

Residence Hall Councils (RHCs)

RHCs are an integral part of the on-campus experience at PLU. Each spring students are elected to serve as leaders in their respective hall's RHC. These RHCs work hard to program and provide social, educational, and spiritual events for their residents as well as build their hall's community through RHA-sponsored events such as Welcome Weekend and Homecoming. Each hall council consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary/PR, Treasurer, Programmer, Religious/ Christian Activities Leader (CAL or RAL), and Environmental, Justice, and Diversity Leader (EJD). Other positions available include Community Involvement Coordinator (CIC), Webmaster, Historian, IM Sports Coordinator, Freshman Activities Coordinator, and many others.

Other Campus Opportunities

Are you interested in joining Student Government or working with a club or student organization.  ASPLU elects positions in the spring and fall semesters, and is always looking for students to be invovled.  The Student Involvement and Leaderhip Office (SIL) coordinates a variety of student clubs (such as the Knitting Club) and organizations (such as the College Democrats).  SIL is also coordinates the University Orientation program and hires Orientation Guides each spring semester.
