PLU's Commitment to Sustainability

PLU's mission is “to educate students for lives of thoughtful inquiry, service, leadership and
care – for other persons, for their communities and for the earth.”

 On April 22, 2004 President Loren Anderson  signed the Talloires Declaration, making PLU the first Pacific Northwest University to sign the declaration.

In spring 2007, President Loren Anderson joined the President's Climate Commitment Leadership Circle. Our progress as of spring 2008.

Mithun Funds Sustainability Fellowships!

Mithun, the architectural firm that worked on PLU's campus master plan, has pledged to support a Sustainability Fellow who works on issues involving the built environment. They have pledged to support one fellow for each of the next three years--Many Thanks to Mithun!

PLU switches to Pura Vida coffee, triple-seal-certified coffee -- Fair Trade, organic, and shade grown.
Pura Vida uses revenue from coffee sales to support children and families at risk in coffee growing countries.
