Tingelstad History

Tingelstad Hall was completed in 1967. It was named after Oscar A. Tingelstad, who served as PLU's President from 1928 to 1943. When it was first constructed Tingelstad housed only males but now has been co-ed for many years.
Oscar Tingelstad was born in 1882 in a small town in North Dakota. His family moved to Silverton, Oregon when he was young and he lived there until after he graduated from high school. he attended PLU himself from 1900 to 1902 before transferring to Luther College. He graduated in 1905 with a degree in Classical Studies.
Roughly 345 Students call T-Stad home each year. Each room is 11'3" x 14'8" so there is plenty of room to store all your stuff!
