The Academic Assistance Center offers the following free services to all registered undergraduate PLU students:
- Individual tutoring in a wide variety of subject
areas, provided by student peer tutors who are approved by faculty and
certified by the College Reading and Learning Association
- Regularly scheduled on-going group study
sessions
- Individualized study strategy planning
- Weekly foreign language conversation groups
- Test review sessions for a variety
of classes
- Student success workshops
in areas such as time management, test taking, learning styles, and reading
strategies
- Open Math Lab (Morken 233), Computer Science Lab (Memorial
102), Biology/Chemistry Lab (Rieke Lobby), and Geoscience
Lab (Rieke 109) for walk-in tutoring
- Supplemental Instruction (SI)
in the form of weekly review sessions for students taking historically
difficult courses, led by tutors who have previously taken the courses themselves.
- Free blank flashcards and handouts on study strategies for specific subject areas and for general help with note taking, learning styles, test preparation, test-taking strategies, and time management
AAC Policies
Individual tutoring sessions are limited to a half hour, and you are expected to be on time and encouraged to have looked over the assignment first.
All services are free to registered undergraduate students at PLU.
Tutoring is done on campus, usually in the Academic Assistance Center in Library 124. Other study sessions also occur in other locations such as the Computer Science Lab, the Geosciences Lab, the Math Lab, and various classrooms.
