| Welcome to the Theatre Department |
While the world of arts and culture has grown exponentially in the Puget Sound area over the last decade, and the Theatre program at PLU is a vital component of this community art is at the forefront of artistic expression in the community.
As a part of the professional School of Arts and Communication, our program involves majors, faculty, and the campus community in creative learning experiences, providing opportunities for students to learn, practice, and perform. Students can major in Theatre/Technical Design as well as Acting/Directing. With five mainstage productions per year, including one student-directed production and a major dance performance, theatre at PLU brings a diverse and expanding audience to its campus and introduces students to the business of theatre arts and community outreach. Students locate their strengths as individuals, and cultivate talents as professional actors or theatre producers. Many students find in the Theatre program at PLU, the world is their oyster!
PLU Dance Program integrates interpretive movement with art music and theatre and provides opportunities for performance. Each spring the PLU Dance Ensemble and Dance Team perform under student and guest choreographers. The Dance Program also offers courses in movement and yoga for actors, as well as the opportunity to pursue a minor in Dance.
