English minors
Minor: Children's Literature
The
Children's Literature program is a special feature of the Department of
English at PLU. Students, regardless of major, who earn a grade of B or
better in Children's Literature (English 333) and in any of its related
courses (Writing for Children, Special Topics in Children's Literature,
and Fairy Tales & Fantasy) will receive a notation of special
competence in Children's Literature on their transcripts.
This program is supported by a special research collection of children's books housed in PLU's Mortvedt Library;
it is the second largest such collection in the Pacific Northwest.
Changing exhibitions in the collection highlight individual authors or
themes of special interest. Children's films and other visual media
related to children's literature are also available through the
library's Multimedia Services department.
