Tacoma Area

Tacoma/Pierce County
From the lofty summit of Mount Rainier to the shores of Puget Sound, Pierce County enjoys one of the most enviable geographic locations in the West. Tacoma, with its outstanding deep water harbor as well as major air, rail and highway links, is Washington's third largest city. It ranks as a powerhouse of the Northwest in business and industry, and is a leading venue for meetings and conventions. At the same time, Pierce County's proximity to mountains, salt water and hundreds of square miles of forest make it the Northwest's premier destination for outdoor recreation.

Mount Rainier Tours & Excursions
We encourage you to stay an extra day or two to take advantage of our truly wonderful region. Many groups plan a day prior to or after a conference for area activities. Whether it's a group trip to Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, the Oregon coast, Washington attractions, or British Columbia, many conference participants appreciate the opportunity of an added excursion. Many groups have used such trips as a way to increase interest and assist with marketing a conference or activity. We will be happy to arrange early or late accommodations for such activities.

Convention & Visitor Bureau
The Tacoma Regional Convention & Visitor Bureau will assist you with area contacts and services. They have the most up-to-date information on area attractions, scenic tours, outdoor events, and other local activities. You may call the Convention Sales Coordinator at (253) 627-2836, to receive information and activity ideas.

Transportation (Air, Bus, Train)
Tacoma is served by the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Trailways and Greyhound Bus Lines, Pierce Transit, and Amtrak Railway. For more information about specific companies and travel between those areas, please contact the Tacoma-Pierce County Visitor Convention Bureau.

Pierce Transit operates several bus routes in the area, and a main terminal (Parkland) is located just a few blocks from PLU. For more information about transportation, please call:
