Who says life's a beach? Ordal residents, that's who! They help the campus bring on spring with their annual courtyard beach party, complete with sand, beach volleyball and a barbecue. Unsubstantiated reports of Jell-O wrestling have also floated in to the PLU news desk.

Named for Ola J. Ordal , president of Pacific Lutheran College from 1921 to 1928.

Ola J. Ordal

Ordal Hall was built in 1967 to house 187 female students. The dormitory was named to honor Ola J. Ordal, president of Pacific Lutheran College from 1921 to 1928. Ordal came to PLC from Our Savior Lutheran Church in Tacoma where he had been its pastor. He attended grammar school in North Dakota, the Lutheran Normal School in Sioux Falls, and taught in the public school in Iowa. He graduated from Luther College (1898) and Luther Seminary (1901). He had served parishes in Minnesota and Washington and had been a PLA and PLC trustee.
