Besides a place to hang your coat and lay your head, what makes for comfortable living? How about a pool table and a good lounge? And talented folks should take note: Hong also hosts a coffee house/talent night each semester.

Named for Nils Joseph Hong, faculty member at Pacific Lutheran College from 1928 to 1938.

Nils Joseph Hong

Hong Hall, originally named North Hall, was built to house 120 male students. The building was finished in 1954 along with one other dormitory, South Hall. In the spring of 1966 the building was renamed Hong Hall to honor of Nils Joseph Hong. Hong was born February 7, 1866 in Coon Prairie, Wisconsin. He attended Willmar seminary and received his baccalaureate degree in Classics from Luther College, Iowa in 1895. He taught at Willmar Seminary 1895- 1897 and then traveled west to Pacific Lutheran Academy. He taught English, Latin, Greek and German for one year and was appointed President in 1898 and served in this position until 1918. Hong was very sensitive and intellectual and brought substance and form to PLA.
