How do I apply for scholarships?
Call the Financial Aid office. They are really helpful, and you can always get a real live person on the phone. It sounds obvious, but it makes a huge difference. Once at PLU, there are often scholarships available related to your major. Being a business major, I know that I can find scholarships for the School of Business on the PLU Web site.
(PLU’s Finan¬cial Aid office is at 800-678-3243; www.plu.edu/financialaid.)
When should I apply for admission?
Now! Honestly, the earlier the better. I suggest your senior year of high school in the fall. PLU has a policy that if you apply by the 15th of any month, you’ll know if you got in by the 15th of the next month. (Editor’s note: October through Janu¬ary) That gives you plenty of time to take a good look at the school and see if it’s right for you.
Does your school offer opportuni¬ties to study away, especially if you want to stay on schedule and graduate in four years?
PLU is amazing for study abroad. We send students to all seven continents – yes, that means Antarctica. I went on a J-Term and a semester to China, and will still gradu¬ate on time. It was great, and very easy to do. PLU has a place called the Wang Center (www.plu.edu/wangcenter) that sets everything up for you and makes sure you are ready for the trip. I would highly suggest it, even if you can only go for a J-Term. I wish I had more time to study away, there are so many places to go
