Time To Choose

PLU: It's Worth It!

Every student's college search comes down to making a final choice. You lay all the options out on the kitchen table, weigh the alternatives with your family, and then decide this is the university for you.

Of course there are many factors to consider. By the time you are ready to choose, you’ve found the schools that offer the major you want. You’ve visited in person and online, so you know you like the people and atmosphere on campus. You have taken time to "Do the Math" and have a good idea of the combination of financial aid, loans and expected family contribution at each place.

Bottom line, PLU might cost a little more than a big state school. So the question then becomes: Is it worth it? What added value is there in choosing PLU?

Here are a few things to consider:

  • Career Connections
PLU has a proven record of success in having our students get started on a career or go on to graduate school. Ninety-six percent report employment or enrollment in graduate school within six months of graduation. Our Career Connections program brings together the best academic and career planning tools to help you make a seamless transition to the next phase of your life.
  • My Academic Pathway
If you stay focused on completing your coursework in four years, at PLU you will have no trouble graduating on time. Other places often don’t have the courses you need when you need them. That can cost you time and money. At PLU we have a specialized tool to help you. It's called My Academic Pathway.
  • Prepared for the World
PLU is distinguished by the way we measure success. Our goal is to prepare you both for success in a career and success in service to others. Our award-winning Wild Hope Center for Vocation asks. "What will you do with your one wild and precious life?"
  • Global Education
At PLU, we think it is essential that students have an educational perspective that extends beyond campus – to the far corners of the world. We know that it will help you find success in your career and realize your full potential to serve and lead in the challenging world of the 21st century. Over 40 percent of students study away, compared to 3 percent nationally. They gain a global perspective and an understanding of the intercultural and intellectual richness of the world.
  • It's About Value
Value is more than just money spent. Value is what you get for your money. Given that PLU offers academically rigorous classes, a supportive campus community, and preparation for success in the world – you’ll find it’s time and money well spent. At PLU, it's about value. And with 95 percent of students receiving financial aid, it's affordable too.
