Honors Application

In order to be considered for the International Honors Program, please complete the following form and personal essay. In addition to these components, faculty will also consider your high school transcript and test scores, which have already been received through your application for admission, as well as a letter of recommendation that speaks to your ability to perform within an honors setting.

  1. Choose a book you recently read that addresses a culture other than your own. Without summarizing the book, explain how this work, fiction or nonfiction, transformed your understanding of that culture and your own. As you write, please keep in mind that faculty members are looking for essays that illustrate your critical thinking skills, and they are a key component to acceptance into the Honors Program.

Michael Wauters was a research assistant at the Universidad Central del Ecuador helping on an epidemiological study of Chagas' disease.

Global focus nets Fulbrights

Students like Michael Wauters ’07 are finding the global focus of PLU is an ideal match for the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship program. Seventy-eight PLU students have received the award since 1975. That means Wauters, who received a fellowship to assist on an epidemiological study in Ecuador, could immerse himself in Latin American culture and prepare for medical school – without having to sweat the details of funding his dream.
